Hello. This is me. I was born in Dover, on the chalky south coast of England, to a Grenadian/Indian mother and English/Turkish father and, sometime later, did the majority of my growing up in Canada. Since then, I’ve spent time living, studying, working, and rambling in Canada, the US, Japan, France, Switzerland, and the UK—where I’m writing this.

Here is how I pitch myself as a writerly professional: I have an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. My fiction has been heard on the New Yorker Radio Hour and has appeared, or will soon appear, in The Stinging Fly, The Normal School, Litro Magazine, New Orleans Review, Raleigh Review, and others. I’ve also published several internationally award-winning novels for children and young adults, including Zorgamazoo, Dust City, Blues for Zoey and others.

I currently lecture in Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln, where I’m Faculty Fiction Editor of the Lincoln Review.

You can find me, occasionally, on Twitter (X)Instagram, and Goodreads.
